San Francisco Police and Firefighters Team Up to Rescue “Loki” the Dog from Telegraph Hillside 20-150
On December 22, 2020, at approximately 6:08 PM, San Francisco Police officers from Central Police Station responded to the 200 block of Sansome Street regarding a dog that had slipped through a hole in a fence line near the Greenwich Street Steps. The dog slipped down a rocky cliffside. San Francisco firefighters from Engine Company 28 and Truck Company 13 also responded to the scene.
Using a flashlight to help locate and keep an eye on the Labrador Retriever named “Loki,” an SFPD officer climbed up the cliffside composed of loose rock from Lombard Street below. After a bit of coaxing, Loki came near enough for the officer to secure her. A high cyclone fence at the top of the cliff prevented the officer from passing Loki to safety. Using a rope line dropped from the top of the cliff, a San Francisco firefighter made his way up the hillside from below and then carried Loki down to Lombard Street.
Loki had taken quite a tumble, falling approximately 20 to 30 feet down the cliffside. She was later treated by a vet for minor injuries and is resting at home.
All of us at the SFFD and SFPD are very happy that Loki was rescued and reunited with her family.
