SFPD Makes an Immediate Arrest Following a Homicide in the Mission 25-001
On January 1, 2025, at approximately 12:25 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a business located on the 500 block of South Van Ness Ave on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and immediately rendered aid to the victim. Paramedics responded to the scene and rendered aid as well. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders and medical personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. During the preliminary investigation, officers learned that the suspect fled from the scene in an SUV after the shooting occurred.
The SFPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Officers located the suspect vehicle in the area of Bayshore Blvd and Geneva Ave. The suspect was removed from the vehicle and subsequently taken into custody without further incident.
Through the course of the investigation, investigators developed probable cause to arrest a 29-year-old male, Jose Rivera Flores. Rivera Flores was transported and booked into San Francisco County Jail for homicide (187(a) PC).
