The San Francisco Police Department’s 283rd Recruit Class will be sworn in on Monday, January 6th, 2025, by San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott. There are 12 graduating recruit officers. Seven graduates are bilingual and fluent in Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, French, and Cantonese.  

The 283rd Recruit Class has 6 members who have earned bachelor’s degrees or associate degrees. Members of the class have previously been employed as mechanics, cooks, locksmiths, and coroner technicians to name a few. One officer was an operational specialist in the United States Navy.

The graduation will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, located at 2850 19th Avenue in San Francisco.

The 283rd Recruit Class has completed 34 weeks of training. Following graduation, the newly sworn SFPD officers will begin a 16-week field training program at various district stations.
