San Francisco Police Respond to Numerous Bomb Threats 18-165

At approximately 10:00AM on Thursday December 13, 2018, the San Francisco Police Department began receiving numerous reports of bomb threats.  The threats were made via email and were received at various locations in San Francisco.  The locations included offices, hotels, tech firms, financial institutions, community-based organizations, media outlets and apartment buildings. 

San Francisco police officers responded to and investigated over 20 incidents.  As of 6:30PM no suspicious devices have been located.  The SFPD Special Investigations Division is in charge of the investigation. 

We are aware that threats have been received in cities across the country.  Part of the department’s investigation includes determining whether the threats received in San Francisco are related to the threats made nationwide.  The department is working with our law enforcement partners and is in communication with the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding this matter. 

We remind the public to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious persons or items that could represent a threat to public safety by calling police.  Investigators are asking anyone with information on this case to contact the San Francisco Police anonymously at 415-575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
