SFPD Make Arrest in Mission District Homicide

On March 22, 2017, at 4:45 AM San Francisco Police Department officers responded to 14th Street and Mission Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim, 35 year-old San Francisco resident, Terry Hopkins laying on the ground suffering from a stab wound to his leg. San Francisco Fire Department paramedics responded and rendered aid. Hopkins was transported to San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) where he was treated for his injury. Unfortunately, on April 21, 2017, Hopkins succumbed to his injuries at SFGH. SFPD Homicide Investigators commenced an investigation that led to the identity of the suspect. On April 22, 2017, at approximately 8:29 PM, SFPD Mission Station officers located and detained 37 year-old San Francisco resident, Thomas Neal on the 100 block of Julian Street in San Francisco. SFPD Homicide Investigators were notified. After the conclusion of the interview with Neal, he was charged with murder and booked into San Francisco County Jail. Due to pending identification matters, the subject’s photo will not be released at this time.
