Stolen SFPD AR-15 Rifle Recovered in Oakland
On March 4, 2013 an SFPD AR-15 rifle, stolen in an auto burglary, was recovered on the 1300 block of 88th Avenue in Oakland, California.
Members of the Oakland Police Department investigating the burglary identified the location and initiated surveillance.
A search warrant was served at the residence and the weapon was recovered.
Several subjects were detained and the investigation is continuous, although no suspects are in custody at this time.
This stemmed from an incident where an SFPD unmarked police car was broken into over the weekend. During the auto burglary, the AR-15 was stolen. Officers had parked and secured the car and were working in the area, when unknown suspects broke in to the car and stole the rifle.
The San Francisco Police Department would like to thank the Oakland Police Department for their outstanding work in the recovery of our patrol rifle.
