Suspect Held in Chinese Blessing Scam

On October 27, 2014, the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, with the assistance of the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office Investigations Unit and allied agencies in New York, was able to positively identify one of the perpetrators of the Chinese Blessing Scam. The suspect is a 61 year old Chinese National.

The female suspect was identified in the two reported blessing scams that occurred in San Francisco and at least one in both Los Angeles and New York City. As she attempted to flee the United States back to China, she was detained by the United States Customs and Border Patrol. Both San Francisco Police and New York Police worked diligently to obtain arrest warrants for the suspect, ultimately obtaining them before she was allowed to leave the country.

She is currently being held in New York on pending charges and is awaiting extradition to San Francisco on charges of grand theft, conspiracy, extortion and elder abuse.
