SFPD & CHP to Conduct Joint Traffic Enforcement Operation

The San Francisco Police Department along with The California Highway Patrol will be conducting a joint traffic enforcement operation tomorrow April 23, 2014. Officers from both agencies will be focusing on traffic violators along Van Ness Avenue between Market and Geary from 7:00AM to 10:00AM and again from 4:00PM to 5:30PM during the morning and evening commute.

Officers will also be focusing traffic enforcement on Folsom and Essex Streets from 5:30PM to 7:00PM.

Our mission is to conduct all traffic enforcement along these areas to educate, correct driving behaviors to mitigate the fatal collisions we have seen in San Francisco.

Year to date, San Francisco has seen four of the seven pedestrian traffic fatalities occur along Van Ness Avenue. This is an example of the Department’s commitment to the City’s Vision Zero plan. The Department reminds all who use our streets to do their part in making sure we all can go home safely.

Members of the media are welcomed to come out and see the enforcement operation.
