SFPD Make Arrest in Bayview District Homicide (17-105)

On July 15, 2017, at 3:38 PM San Francisco Police officers responded to the 1400 block of Palou Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim, 18 year-old San Francisco resident Marshawn Byrd laying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. San Francisco Fire Department paramedics responded and rendered aid, but unfortunately Byrd succumbed to his injuries at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

San Francisco Police Department Homicide and Gang Task Force Investigators commenced an investigation that immediately led to the identity of the suspect. On July 18, 2017, at approximately 2:37 PM, plainclothes officers from Bayview Station located and arrested the suspect, a 17 year-old, male, San Francisco resident, on the 1500 block of Geneva Avenue in San Francisco. Homicide and Gang Task Force investigators were notified of the arrest which was made within days of the incident.

Through the course of this investigation, it was also determined that the suspect in the homicide was also the suspect in another shooting that occurred on July, 10th, 2017 on the 1400 block of Innes. The victim in that case was a 32 year-old San Francisco resident who suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The suspect was booked at the Juvenile Justice Center on a charge of murder in connection with the July 15th incident and a charge of attempted murder in connection with the July 10th shooting.
