Park Station Officers Arrest Attempted Robbery Suspects Armed with a Gun

On 10/02/2014 at approximately 2:10 pm, an attempted robbery with a gun occurred inside Golden Gate Park near the Conservatory of Flowers.

The victim was a tourist visiting from Egypt who was approached by three suspects. One suspect demanded the tourist’s belongings while another suspect brandished a firearm. The victim feared for his life and was able to seek help in calling 911. The suspects left the immediate area but a witness was able to keep an eye on them.

Police officers received the call and responded. Officers were able to locate the reporting parties while other responding officers immediately searched the area for suspects. Officers were able to locate and detain three suspects matching the description provided by the victim and witness. The suspects were positively identified by the witness and victim. Officers recovered the gun used in the attempted robbery.

Taken into custody were Ishmael Watkins, 20 years old of Oakland and a juvenile suspect, 16 years old of Daly City. Watkins was booked into San Francisco County Jail on attempted robbery, brandishing a firearm, conspiracy, probation violation and false name charges. The juvenile was booked at the Juvenile Justice Center on attempted robbery, conspiracy and brandishing firearm charges.
