Bayview Home Invasion Leads to Officer Involved Shooting (17-078)

On May 21, 2017 at approximately 11:00 PM San Francisco Police Officers assigned to Bayview Station responded to a reported home invasion at a residence on the 2100 block of Quesada Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers established a perimeter around the premise. As the officers were preparing to search the residence, several suspects exited the rear of the building. At least one suspect fi red at the uniformed officers. One officer returned fire. The suspects fled over fences and through adjacent backyards.

Officers pursued on foot and detained one suspect. The other suspects continued to flee. A larger perimeter was established and additional resources responded to the scene. With the assistance of K9 units, officers searched the area for the remaining suspects. The remaining suspects were not located. There are no known injuries from the shots that were fired. The occupants of the residence are being interviewed by investigators.

This is an active and ongoing investigation in the early stages. Separate investigations are being conducted by the SFPD Homicide Detail and Internal Affairs Division, the SF District Attorney’s Independent Investigations Bureau and the Department of Police Accountability (DPA).
