11 year-old Concord boy safely reunited with family at SFPD Ingleside Station
On Friday, Zachary Jordan-Smith was reported missing after being last seen leaving his Concord elementary school headed toward a BART station. The disappearance of the autistic boy prompted a search effort and an outpouring of social media support. This afternoon, Zachary was seen in traffic along a busy and dangerous stretch of Alemany Boulevard in San Francisco. San Franciscan Alice Caruthers spotted Zachary from her office window ran outside to bring him indoors to safety. Ms. Caruthers called 911. The report of a found child made its way to SFPD Ingleside Sgt. Lisa Springer- who happened to know Zachary and his family. Sgt. Springer brought the boy to Ingleside Station, where the uninjured boy was tearfully reunited with his parents this afternoon.
SFPD would like to thank Ms. Caruthers- her initiative shows that good things happen when citizens get involved.
