Off-Duty SFPD Arrests Robbery Suspect in Half Moon Bay

On March 12th, 2016, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a strong arm robbery that had occurred on the 400 block of Main Street in Half Moon Bay. The victim advised 911 that a male suspect had just stolen her purse as she was walking on the sidewalk. An off-duty SFPD Officer assigned to Mission Station witnessed the crime and immediately pursued the suspect on foot. After a short chase, the SFPD officer detained the suspect who was hiding behind a tree just east of San Benito Street. The victim was able to recover her property, which had been discarded by the suspect during the course of the foot pursuit.

The subject arrested was Francisco Javier Lopez-Raya, 19 year old Hispanic male, Half Moon Bay Resident. He was booked at San Mateo County Jail on two felony charges of 212.5 (c) PC – Robbery and 21310 PC – Carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. A booking photo accompanies this press release.
