SFPD Officer Involved in Traffic Collision with Bicyclist
On Thursday May 12, 2016 at approximately 5:48PM a marked San Francisco Police car was involved in a collision with a bicyclist on 2nd Street at Mission. After the collision, the officer exited his vehicle, checked on the bicyclist and summoned an ambulance to the scene. The Department is conducting two investigations into the matter: a traffic collision investigation and a separate supervisory investigation.
The Department has received questions regarding whether the officer was responding in emergency mode. There is nothing in the investigation to indicate that the officer was responding with red light and siren, or that the officer indicated to investigators that he was operating the vehicle with red light and siren.
