SFPD Seeks the Public's Assistance to Recover Ivory Relics

On August 18, 2016 San Francisco Police Officers assigned to the Central District responded to a burglary of an art gallery on the 200 block of Jefferson Street. The suspect made his way into the building and forced open cabinets and lockers containing ivory figurines. Over sixty ivory figurines including carvings and figures, such as samurai soldiers or tusks with sceneries were stolen. The value of these pieces is placed at over $210,000.00. Through the course of the investigation, Central Station investigators identified a suspect. The suspect, 26 year old, Cameron Ybarra, was already in custody for a separate incident and subsequently charged for burglary regarding this case. While an arrest has been made, the stolen figurines have not been recovered. The San Francisco Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating and recovering the stolen items. Photos of some of figurines and Ybarra’s booking photo accompany this press release.
