SFPD Officer Involved Shooting in the Tenderloin District Town Hall Meeting (17-067c)

On Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11: 30 AM, San Francisco Police Chief William Scott held a town hall meeting at 969 Market Street to update the community on the May 3rd officer involved shooting that occurred in a sandwich shop on the 900 block of Market Street. Joining Chief Scott were Greg McEachern, Commander of Investigations and Theresa Ewins, Captain of Tenderloin Station. District Six Supervisor Jane Kim was also present and addressed the community.

Commander McEachern provided an update on the investigation which included the display of four photographs. These photographs consisted of two Google map images of the location of the incident, a photograph of the knife used in the stabbing of the victim and a still photo (from a surveillance camera) of the suspect holding a knife. Four video clips were also played. Those clips included video from two surveillance cameras located in the sandwich shop; body worn camera (BWC) footage from Officer Kenneth Cha, who discharged his firearm; and BWC footage from a second officer who was on the scene.
