Stolen Vehicle Arrest Results in an Officer Involved Shooting

On October 25, 2016 at approximately 3:30PM a unit from the San Mateo County Vehicle Theft Task Force (VTTF) followed a stolen vehicle (Honda) from San Mateo County into San Francisco. The VTTF Unit was comprised of officers from three law enforcement agencies within San Mateo County. Near the intersection of Montana and Faxon, the officers approached the Honda and an officer involved shooting (OIS) occurred. The driver of the suspect vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. One officer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail and the San Francisco District Attorney's Office are conducting a criminal investigation into the OIS. Administrative investigations will be conducted by each of the agencies with an officer involved.
