SFPD Make Arrest in Tenderloin District Homicide (17-097)

On June 23, 2017, at 5:05 AM San Francisco Police officers responded to the unit block of Turk street in the Tenderloin District regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim, Carl Holman, a 43 year-old San Francisco resident, laying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. San Francisco Fire Department paramedics responded and rendered aid, but unfortunately Holman succumbed to his injuries at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

San Francisco Police Homicide investigators commenced an investigation that immediately led to the identity of the suspect. On June 25, 2017, at approximately 4:30 PM SFPD Gang Task Force investigators and Bayview Station plainclothes officers located and arrested John Muhammed, a 45 year-old San Francisco resident, at 3rd Street and Palou Avenue in the Bayview District. Muhammed was booked into San Francisco County Jail on felony murder, carrying a loaded firearm in public place and being an ex-felon in possession firearm charges.

Due to pending identification matters, the subject’s photos will not be released at this time.
