SFPD Investigators Recover Illegal Firearms and Arrest Suspects Related to a Shooting Investigation 23-097

Search warrant leads to four firearms and multiple firearm accessories seized  

SFPD officers assigned to Crime Gun Investigations Center (CGIC) continue to make arrests and seize illegal firearms related to shootings in San Francisco. As a result of a shooting investigation, SFPD CGIC officers developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant for 19-year-old Adir Mullen-Johnson of San Francisco, as well as his residence on the unit block of Dakota Street. 

On July 27, 2023, officers from CGIC observed Adir Mullen-Johnson, accompanied by three other subjects, in the area of the unit block of Dakota Street and detained them without incident. Officers located a loaded firearm with a high-capacity magazine as well as a second loaded magazine, on Adir’s person and placed him into custody.      

The officers then served the warrant on the unit block of Dakota Street which resulted in the seizure of three illegal firearms including a loaded, assault-style pistol. Officers also seized firearm accessories, ammunition, and other evidence related to the investigation.     

Through the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to place one of the detained subjects, identified as 19-year-old Asad Mullen-Johnson of San Francisco, under arrest.  

Adir and Asad were transported to San Francisco County Jail #1.  

Adir was booked for charges of carrying a loaded firearm in public (25850(a) PC), carrying a concealed firearm within a vehicle (25400(a)(1) PC), carrying a concealed firearm (25400(a)(2) PC), and shall not own or possess a firearm until the age of 30 (29820(b) PC). 

Asad was booked for charges of possession of an assault weapon (30605(a) PC), carrying a concealed firearm (25400(a)(2) PC), carrying a loaded firearm in public (25850(a) PC), and alter or remove any identifying marks on a firearm (23900 PC).
