San Francisco Police Investigate Threats, Shots Fired & Firearm Brandishing Incidents 23-015
On Thursday, February 2, 2023, at approximately 9:26 am officers responded to a Jewish Synagogue located on the 2600 block of Balboa St. regarding a report of threats. Officers arrived on scene and met with the caller who mentioned that on Wednesday, February 1 at approximately 7:20 pm an unknown male entered the building during a gathering. The male subject made a verbal statement, pulled out a firearm, and shot several times inside the building. The subject exited the building and fled the scene. There were no reports of injury or property damage. Officers seized the expended casings that were fired, which are being investigated as possible blanks. No arrest has been made for this open and active investigation.
On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at approximately 8:00 pm officers responded to a theater located on the 3600 block of Balboa St. regarding a person with a gun. Officers arrived on scene and met with an employee of the theater who stated that an unknown male subject spoke with employees while looking at merchandise. During this interaction, the subject pulled out a handgun and brandished it. The subject fled the scene on foot on Balboa St. There was no report of injury or property damage. Officers searched for the subject to no avail.
Based on these recent reports, which appear to be unrelated, the subject’s description is similar and is possibly the same individual. Officers are searching for this subject.
