Southern District Citizen of the Month - December 2020
Meet Southern District's Citizen of the Month - Debi Gould!
Ms. Gould was born and raised in Southern California. She is a proud alumnus of Howard University. Debi moved to Chicago and starting a career with United Airlines. Ultimately one of those landed Debi in San Francisco where she settled in the SOMA district and has been here since. In her 27 years with United Airlines, she had opportunities to work on the “Team Charters”, where she met many players from the San Francisco Giant’s, 49ers, and the Oakland A’s. In 2007 Debi began to work for the SF Giants.
Debi has always been actively involved in her community. In 2004 Debi lost a dear friend to a terrible traffic collision. Debi became a vocal advocate for traffic safety in her community. She partnered with others and pushed for changes to improve traffic safety for all. She was able to get representatives from SFMTA to walk her neighborhood to view some of the community concerns. Due to her efforts and the efforts of her group they were able to see some of their requests for traffic safety come to fruition.
In 2009 Debi was invited to join the San Francisco Police Department CPAB (Captain’s Police Advisory Board). As part of the Southern Station CPAB, she has been involved in many community events, like National Night Out and volunteering at the United Playaz Gun Buyback events. Many other events were arranged by the CPAB in partnership with the Police Department to build on community relationships with the police department. Debi is a steadfast advocate for her community and the city of San Francisco. If you see her out give her a wave and a smile, she will return that big smile and wave.
Thank you for all you do Debi.
