San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect from 4th & Mission Street Homicide 20-083
On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at approximately 3:22 PM officers responded to a report of a shooting at 4th St. and Mission St. Officers arrived on scene and located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to the injuries despite the life-saving efforts of the medical staff.
Officers had information that the suspect ran into a parking structure and officers immediately established a plan to search the building. Responding officers from the SFPD Special Operations Tactical Unit searched the parking structure and located the suspect who was taken into custody.
The SFPD Homicide Detail arrived on scene and took over the investigation. The suspect, Jose Alvarez, 23-year-old male, was arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail for the felony charges of murder (187(a) PC), prohibited person in possession of firearm (29800(a)(1) PC), carrying concealed firearm (25400(a)(1) PC), carrying loaded firearm (25850(a) PC), and probation hold (1203.2(a) PC).
