San Francisco Police Make Arrests on Market Street/ 6th Street Shooting 19-113
UPDATE: Third Suspect Arrested in Shooting Incident
On Tuesday August 20th, 2019 at approximately 5:34 PM, Tenderloin Station officers responded to an altercation on the1000 block of Market Street regarding a shots fired call. Responding officers were able to quickly locate a victim in this incident who was suffering from a wound to his face. Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim who has since been released from the hospital.
Investigators from the Tenderloin Station Investigative Team located surveillance footage showing three suspects running across Market Street. One of the suspects fired several rounds from a pistol towards a crowd of people. The surveillance footage also shows one of the three suspects physically assaulting an unknown person. Cell phone footage taken by a pedestrian also reveals one of the suspects brazenly shooting a pistol toward a nearby crowd.
A crime bulletin was distributed to members of the SFPD and to local law enforcement agencies. Two of the suspects in this incident were identified by officers from the Oakland Police Department as 18 year-old Oakland resident Lerron Simpson and 21 year-old Oakland resident Elijah Ernest. Investigations also revealed that Ernest was a Parolee at Large with a warrant for his arrest.
On Monday, August 26th at the direction of Tenderloin Station investigators, Simpson and Ernest were located and taken into custody in Oakland by members of the Oakland Police Department. A firearm was located and seized at the time of their arrest. Simpson and Ernest will be booked into San Francisco County Jail for attempted murder as well as several firearm related charges.
On Wednesday August 28th a 13 year-old male juvenile was taken into custody in Oakland by members of the Oakland Police Department. The juvenile has been identified as the third suspect in the incident.
Due to the age of the third suspect, his name and booking photo are not being released.
