SFPD Makes Arrest in Ingleside Homicide 19-068
On May 20, 2019 a missing person report was generated by Ingleside Station for 73 year-old San Francisco resident Benedict Ching.
A co-worker contacted a family member of Mr. Ching to advise her that he did not show up for work on May 18, 2019. On May 20, 2019 at approximately 11:40 AM police officers from Ingleside Station accompanied Mr.Ching’s family member to his home to conduct a well-being check. Police made entry into the home and discovered a body, believed to be Mr. Ching. Investigators determined that his disappearance and death was a result of foul play.
The SFPD Homicide Detail began an investigation that led to the identification of two possible suspects: 44 year-old Douglas Lomas and 35 year-old Stephanie Ching, both of San Francisco. Homicide investigators received information that Lomas and Ching were on enroute to China. With the assistance of the federal Homeland Security Investigations SFPD was able to locate, identify, and detain the subjects who landed in Beijing, China. The subjects were flown to Virginia and are currently being housed in the Loudoun Adult Detention Center in Leesburg, VA where they were arrested and booked for homicide.
Investigators are currently working on the extradition process to bring the subjects back to San Francisco. Booking photos of the subjects are not available at this time.
The arrest of the suspects comes via collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) San Francisco. HSI was instrumental in locating and coordinating this arrest without incident.
