Bayview - Citizen of the Month - April 2018

April Spears is the proprietor and executive chef Auntie Aprils Chicken, Waffles, and Soul Food on the 4600 block of 3rd. April was born and raised in the Bayview District and developed her love of cooking as a child in in her grandmothers kitchen. She became so masterful with her Texan and Louisiana style cuisine that sharing her art with the community was the logical next step. In 2008, she got the push she needed to follow her dreams and Auntie April's was born. Defying the economic odds of small business ownership, Auntie April's has been around a decade serving up delicious comfort food to the community and visitors alike. April is a model for young African- American entrepreneurs in the Bayview, and for that we honor her this month!
