SFPD Make Arrest in Brutal June 30 Robbery & Assault

San Francisco police have arrested a suspect in a brutal robbery and assault that occurred on Pride weekend, June 30, 2013 on Market Streets at 1:50 A.M. Taken into custody on July 26, 2013 was Christopher Porter-Bailey 23, of Oakland.

In this incident, the victim, a 28 year-old San Francisco woman, was robbed of her purse, which contained her cell phone by a group of suspects while she was walking on the sidewalk. During the course of the robbery she was knocked to the pavement. After she was down, one suspect kicked her in the head so violently that she lost consciousness. San Francisco police released a video captured by a surveillance camera that shows the attack, including the kick to the head.

The Mission Station Investigation Team quickly initiated an investigation, which led to the identity of the suspect. With the help of Oakland Police, Porter-Bailey was arrested and returned to San Francisco.

The suspect was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and battery likely to produce serious injury. Porter-Bailey remains in custody.

Investigators are trying to determine if this suspect arrested and his companions were the same ones who committed other robberies and assaults that occurred on June 30 on Market Street between Civic Center and Castro Street around the same time period. Persons who believe that they were victims or potential victims of the same suspects but did not report the incident are urged to contact the Mission Station Investigation Team at 415-558-5400.
