SFPD Arrest Suspect in Chinatown Home Invasion Robbery

On April 5, 2015 at 4:00 PM, the victim, a 92 year old female was in her apartment on the 700 block of Broadway when the suspect entered through the front door. The victim walked into her living room and found the suspect rummaging through drawers. Upon seeing the victim, the suspect walked up to the victim and grabbed her wallet which was located in her shirt pocket. The victim attempted to grab her wallet in an effort to prevent the suspect from taking it. The suspect tore the pocket, and pulled the shirt off of the victim before fleeing with the wallet. The victim was not injured.

Officers from Central Police Station responded and began an investigation. The investigation revealed surveillance camera video which was later found to have captured images of the suspect. Investigators reviewing the video recognized the suspect from past police contacts. On April 7th, members of the Central Station Plain Clothes Unit viewed the video, recognized the suspect and set out to locate him. Later that evening, the Officers located the suspect at Market Street and Cyril Magnin, still wearing the same clothes that he was wearing during the incident.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and later booked into County Jail.

Fred Jones, 46, San Francisco was booked on felony charges of: Burglary in the First Degree, Robbery, Elder Abuse and for violating his Parole and Probation. A booking photo accompanies this press release.
