SFPD Request Public’s Assistance in Solving Robbery of Photographer

On July 23, 2015 at approximately 11:00 AM, a photo journalist and a witness were walking together eastbound on Bryant Street. As they approached Langton Street, two unidentified suspects pushed the photographer from behind. As he fell forward, the unknown suspects grabbed onto his Canon EOS-1D digital camera. The photographer struggled to maintain custody of his camera and as a result, the suspects pulled him approximately twenty feet down Langton Street before overpowering him and stealing the camera. The camera and lenses stolen are valued at over $9,300.

Both suspects ran southbound on Langton Street before jumping into a black Pontiac Grand Prix. A surveillance camera in the area caught video footage of the suspects fleeing the scene in the vehicle. The video also recorded what appears to be a “Good Samaritan” giving chase to the suspects from a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck or similar vehicle.

The San Francisco Police Department is asking the public to help us identify the Good Samaritan who was driving the pick-up truck. We are asking for the driver of the pick-up truck or anyone else with information regarding this crime to contact police investigators.
