The hit and run driver fled the scene in the suspect vehicle, having failed to stop as required by the California VehicleCode.

The officers provided aid to the pedestrian until they were relieved by paramedics from theSan Francisco Fire Department.  The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he remains with life-threatening injuries.

Members of the SFPDTraffic Collision Investigation Unit (TCIU) assisted with the investigation.  As a result of that investigation, it has been determined that the suspect vehicle is a Ford RangerPick Up Truck, model year 2001-2005 and “Sonic Blue” in color. The truck should have damage to the right front corner at the passenger side headlamp and parking lamp areas.  Accompanying this press release are two photos that depict a vehicle similar to the one being sought.  Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who saw a similar vehicle in the area on the night of the hit and run, or may have seen or know the whereabouts of this vehicle to contact the SFPD Traffic CollisionInvestigation Unit at (415) 553-1641, the Anonymous Tip Line at (415) 575-4444or Text A Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.  Automotive supply and body repair shops are also asked to check their records for any similar vehicles with corresponding damage.
