Gung Hay Fat Choy! Lunar New Year festivities have begun as the Lunar New Year ushers in the Year of the Dog, whose characteristics under the Chinese Zodiac are associated with companionship, loyalty, honesty, intelligence, and a strong sense of right and wrong. The Lunar New Year celebration will culminate with the Lunar New Year Parade on Saturday, February 24, 2108 which will begin at 2nd and Market Street and wind its way along Market Street through Union Square and the Chinatown District ending at Kearny and Columbus Ave.
Southern foot beat officers in partnership with SF SAFE have been distributing Lunar New Year safety tips along merchant corridors in the SOMA area to ensure a safe Lunar New Year season. A few safety tips I would like to pass along while attending Lunar New Year events:
