Super Bowl 50 Traffic Advisory

Super Bowl 50 events have begun and will be in full swing by Friday, February 5th. Many people will be traveling about the Bay, going to and from events in Santa Clara, San Francisco and both sides of the Bay. Traffic will be heaviest during Super Bowl weekend through Monday, February 8th when many visitors head to Bay Area airports for their journeys home.

The California Highway Patrol, Santa Clara County Law Enforcement, the SFMTA and the San Francisco Police Department are working together to keep the Bay Area moving during Super Bowl week. With Super Bowl City and the NFL Experience drawing in visitors to the City, we anticipate heavier than usual traffic, especially during commute periods. We ask our Bay Area commuters to consider ridesharing or taking public transportation to get to and from San Francisco during this week. If you must drive into or out of San Francisco, please plan additional travel time.

Traffic collisions can cause major delays and congestion. Help us keep the roads moving by driving safely, wearing your seat belt, putting down the phone, and avoiding distracted driving. Never get behind the wheel after drinking or using drugs. We hope you enjoy Super Bowl 50!
