SFPD Year End Crime Statistics

The overall number of Part 1 crimes in San Francisco reported as part of the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting program decreased 5.18 percent in 2014 when compared with 2013 data; Property Crimes were down 5.27 percent and Violent Crimes down 4.52 percent.

The Department continues to focus our resources on addressing violent crime, including homicides, and more specifically, the rate of gun violence as measured by the overall number of non-fatal and fatal shooting victims. The rate of homicides continued to decline in 2014, ending with a total of 45, down 6.25 percent. Total gun violence remains steady being down one event compared to 2013.

The number of reported rapes in 2014 increased dramatically as the data now reflects the expanded parameters of forcible rape based on the FBI/UCR definition implemented in 2013. As such, 2014 cannot be compared to previous years.
