SFPD Statement Regarding Threats to Acting Chief of Police Toney Chaplin

On Saturday July 16, 2016, SFPD became aware of criminal threats made to Acting Chief of Police Toney Chaplin, via social media. The San Francisco Police Department Special Investigations Division immediately began an investigation.

A suspect was identified and taken into custody on the 2600 block of Ortega Street, on July 18, 2016. The suspect is Donald Eric Hoganson, 60 years old. A search warrant was approved by a judge and served at the location. The suspect is in SFPD custody, but has not yet been formally booked. The investigation is still active and ongoing.
