SFPD Muni Task Force Arrests Fare Embezzlement Suspect

Approximately two months ago, the San Francisco Police Department Muni Task Force (SFPD MTF) was contacted by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) regarding the alleged theft of public fares by SFMTA employees.

SFPD Muni Task Force commenced an investigation. The investigation identified one of the suspects in the case as 61 year-old Napa County resident Albert Williams. On April 19, 2017, Williams was located in the Central District and arrested by SFPD MTF officers. Williams was subsequently booked at the San Francisco County Jail on embezzlement of public funds charges.

“The suspect’s conduct represents a violation of public trust,” said San Francisco Police Chief William Scott. “Our investigators moved quickly to gather evidence and build an extensive case to present to the District Attorney’s Office.”

A booking photo of Williams is not available at the time of this release.

Although an arrest has been made this remains an ongoing investigation. Investigators are asking anyone with information on this case to contact the San Francisco Police anonymously at 415-575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
