SFPD Makes Arrests in December 2019 Homicide

On Thursday December 19, 2019, at approximately 11:41 PM, San Francisco Police officers from Tenderloin Station were on patrol in the area of Eddy and Leavenworth Streets when they heard the sound of gunfire. Officers located a crime scene, which included spent shell casings. Witnesses advised officers of a vehicle that fled from the scene following the shooting. Officers located a vehicle matching the description with damage from gunfire in the area of 8th and Folsom Streets. Officers located a female adult victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers rendered first aid/CPR to the victim and requested medical assistance. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The SFPD Homicide Detail responded and took over the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, the SFPD Homicide Detail identified four suspects wanted in connection with the homicide. The suspects were identified as 28-year-old Derick Session, 39-year-old Gary Owens, 31-year-old Robert Huntley and 23 year-old Tyjone Flournoy. On Tuesday October 27, 2020 the SFPD Homicide Detail along with the Tactical and Specialist teams served three simultaneous arrest warrants on the 1200 block of Pierce Street, the 700 block of Kirkwood Avenue, and in the city of Antioch, CA. This resulted in the arrest of Derick Session, Gary Owens, and Robert Huntley. On Sunday November 8, 2020 Flournoy surrendered to San Francisco County Sheriff’s deputies without incident.
