SFPD Makes Arrest in Tenderloin District Homicide 25-050

On April 14, 2025, at approximately 5:29 p.m., officers responded to Turk and Mason streets regarding a shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid, and medics arrived on the scene.  

Despite the life-saving efforts of first responders, the victim was declared deceased.

Shortly after the homicide occurred, SFPD officers quickly took the suspect into custody. The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Lewis Jefferson Butler. Butler was booked at San Francisco County Jail on charges of homicide (187(a)PC), felon in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1)PC), battery on a peace officer (243(b)PC), resisting arrest (148(a)(1)PC) as well as an outstanding warrant from Alameda County.
