SFPD Make Arrest in Northern District Homicide

On July 17, 2016, San Francisco Police officers responded to 950 Geary Street in the Northern district regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim, 26 year old Alameda county resident, Joshua Mejia, suffering from a gunshot wound. San Francisco Fire Department paramedics responded and rendered aid, but unfortunately Mejia succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

San Francisco Police Homicide Investigators commenced an investigation that led to the identities of the suspects. On October 7, 2016, SFPD officers located and arrested Tony Gonzalez, a 25 year-old Oakland resident and Francisco Heredia, a 23 year-old, San Francisco resident. Gonzalez was arrested on the unit block of 6th street in the Tenderloin District. Heredia was already in custody at the San Francisco County Jail on unrelated charges. Gonzales and Heredia were both booked for: Homicide, Attempted Homicide, Assault with Firearm and Conspiracy. Due to pending identification matters, Gonzalez’s and Heredia’s photos will not be released at this time.
