SFPD Make Arrest in January 19th Strong Arm Robbery of Merchant 19-016

On January 19, 2019 at approximately 12:25PM, a male victim returned to his business on the 4600 block of Mission Street having just left a nearby bank. Two suspects assaulted the victim and robbed him of US currency before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries during the robbery.

The San Francisco Police Department Robbery Detail commenced an investigation. With the assistance of merchants and the SFMTA, investigators obtained surveillance video that led to the identification of the suspects.

On February 7, 2019 members of the SFPD Robbery Detail and officers from Ingleside Station placed 18 year-old San Francisco resident Taiepisi Gutu and a 17 year-old male juvenile San Francisco resident under arrest for the robbery.

Due to pending identification matters Gutu’s booking photo is not being released at this time.

The San Francisco Police Department wishes to acknowledge neighborhood merchants and the SFMTA and the San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department for their assistance in this investigation.
