SFPD Investigates Possible Hate Crime 19-074
On Sunday June 2, 2019, at approximately 12:50 AM, San Francisco Police officers from Southern Station responded to the 500 block of Howard Street in regards to a battery. Officers located a 23 year-old male and a 21 year-old male who told them that they had been struck in the face by a male suspect. The victims alleged that the suspect made a homophobic slur prior to the attack. The suspect was stopped and detained nearby. The suspect, 27 year-old Griffin Murray of San Francisco, was cited and released on two counts of misdemeanor battery. |
The San Francisco Special Investigations Division (SID), which oversees hate crime investigations, was assigned the case. SID investigators will be conferring with the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office on the matter.
