SFPD Arrests Narcotics Trafficking Suspect 24-140
Large quantities of narcotics and U.S. currency seized
During the month of October, members of the SFPD Narcotics Unit and members of the San Francisco Sheriff's Office, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the Army National Guard conducted an investigation of a known narcotics trafficker. The investigation revealed that the suspect actively sells narcotics in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. The Narcotics Unit officers developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the suspect, the suspect’s vehicle, and the residence in Oakland, California.
On the evening of November 13, 2024, SFPD officers observed the suspect, identified as Kerlin Salgado-Ferrera, driving in the Lower Nob Hill area of San Francisco. The suspect parked his vehicle and exited it in the area of California and Polk Streets. During a brief foot pursuit, the suspect discarded suspected narcotics. Officers discovered that the suspect was in possession of various suspected narcotics and other items related to dealing drugs. The officers placed the suspect under arrest for narcotics trafficking.
The SFPD Narcotics Unit served the search warrant for the suspect’s residence on the 1000 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland, CA. During the search, officers located and seized additional suspected narcotics and U.S. currency. In total, officers seized approximately 68.1 grams of fentanyl, 101.6 grams of methamphetamine, 237.2 grams of cocaine, 82.4 grams of suspected fentanyl pills, 5.4 grams of heroin, and over $6,000 in U.S. currency.
Kerlin Salgado-Ferrera was booked at San Francisco County Jail #1 on the charges of sale or transportation of a controlled substance (11352 H&S), possession for sale of a controlled substance (11351 H&S), possession of cocaine base for sale (11351.5 H&S), operating or maintaining a drug house (11366 H&S), possession of methamphetamine for sale (11378 H&S) and probation violation (1203.2(a) PC).
The use of drones operated by SFPD’s Strategic Investigations Unit was critical in this investigation.
