SFPD Academy’s 249th Basic/31st Regional Academy Class Graduates
The San Francisco Police Department will be holding a graduation ceremony for the 249th Basic/31st Regional Academy Class, on Friday, June 3rd, 2016, at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 2850 19th Avenue at Sloat Blvd. at 6:00 P.M. There are 48 recruits graduating from the class, of which 5 recruits represent the Oakland Police Department.
Members of this class possess the following degrees: from SFPD, 1 has a Juris Doctorate degree, 2 have Master’s degrees, 25 have Bachelor’s degrees, 3 have Associate’s degrees and 10 have some college experience. Two from OPD have Bachelor’s degrees. Eight members served in the military as members of the US Army, Navy and Marines. Additionally, SFPD recruits’ previous employment includes SF Adult Probation, SF Rec & Park, SF Municipal Transportation Agency, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Corrections Officer, a Firefighter, and a Police Service Aide. An Oakland Police Department recruit served as a corrections officer.
Several of the recruits are bilingual. The languages spoken are: Russian, Korean, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Italian, Cambodian and Hmong.
The academy class has completed 32 weeks of training. Following the graduation, the newly sworn SFPD officers will begin a 16-week field-training program at various district stations. The recruits from OPD will return to Oakland for their own respective 16-week field training program.
