San Francisco Police Serve Search Warrants and Make Arrest 21-142

Investigators locate multiple firearms, narcotics, and several rounds of ammunition.

On Friday July 23, 2021, Investigators from the SFPD Community Violence Reduction Team, Crime Gun Investigative Center, and special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives served simultaneous search warrants on the unit block of Monterey Boulevard and the 600 block of 43rd Avenue.   Investigators obtained search warrants for the person, vehicle, and premises of 24-year-old Miguel Rengifo-Paez. Rengifo-Paez is currently on felony probation for robbery.

At approximately 11:38 a.m., officers observed Rengifo-Paez exit a building on the 600 block of 43rd Avenue. Rengifo-Paez was taken into custody without incident. While Rengifo-Paez was detained, investigators searched each premises listed in the search warrant, as well as Rengifo-Paez’s vehicle. On Monterey Boulevard investigators located a loaded AR-15 machine pistol, numerous rounds of ammunition of varying caliber, and firearm accessories. On 43rd Avenue investigators located a loaded handgun, firearm accessories, and approximately 26 grams of cocaine salt. In Rengifo-Paez’s vehicle investigators located a loaded high-capacity magazine.

Rengifo-Paez was later transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked on the following charges; possession of firearms by felon convicted of a violent crime (29900(a)(1) PC), felon in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1) PC), possession of a firearm in violation of condition of probation (29815(a) PC), carrying a loaded firearm in public or in a vehicle (25850(a) PC), possession of a controlled substance while armed (11370.1 H&S), possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (30305(a) PC), possession of an assault weapon in California (30605(a) PC), possession of a large capacity magazine (32310(a) PC), and probation violation (1203.2 (a) PC).
