On Tuesday March 16, 2021 at approximately 4:53 a.m., San Francisco Police officers assigned to Mission Station were conducting a burglary surveillance operation in San Francisco’s Eureka Valley neighborhood. San Francisco has seen an increase in residential and commercial burglaries and these officers were tasked with conducting undercover patrol and surveillance in an effort to identify and arrest burglars.

Officers observed a subject, later identified as 26 year-old Mario Ramirez of San Francisco, walking from house to house, entering the yards, peering into entry ways and looking into stairwells. Ramirez was detained by uniformed police officers in the area of 19th and Hartford Streets. While conducting a pat search for weapons, officers located a loaded firearm in Ramirez’s backpack. Officers also located a knife, screwdrivers, chisel, lock pick, saw and pepper spray in Ramirez’s possession. Officers conducted a records check of Ramirez, which revealed he was on active parole for carrying a loaded firearm.

Ramirez was later transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked on charges of person convicted of a violent offense in possession of a firearm (29900(a)(1) PC), possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (30305(a)(1) PC), possession of tear gas by a prohibited person (22810(a) PC), carrying a loaded firearm in public (25850(a)(2) PC), non-registered owner carrying a loaded firearm (25850(c)(6) PC), (25400(a)(2) PC), carrying a concealed firearm (25400(a)(2) PC), (29800(a)(1) PC), felon in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1) PC), receiving stolen property (496 PC), possession of burglary tools (466 PC), carrying a concealed and loaded firearm (25400(c)(6) PC), providing false identification to a police officer (148.9 PC), mail theft (530.5(E) PC), loitering to commit a crime (647(H) PC), and parole violation (3056 PC).
