San Francisco Police Officers Make Arrest for Possession of Child Pornography 20-117

In the Summer of 2020, the SFPD Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit was assigned a case involving an individual who was storing hundreds of child pornography files in a cloud storage account.

During the investigation, it was determined that the cloud storage account was connected to a residence on the 700 block of 9th Avenue in San Francisco.

On October 9, 2020, SFPD investigators served a search warrant at the residence.

During the search warrant, investigators were able to link the cloud storage account to one of the residents, 72-year-old Delbert Ervin. Investigators also found child pornography on media devices belonging to Ervin.

Ervin was placed under arrest for two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of over 600 files of child pornography involving prepubescent children under twelve (12) years old.

It was determined that Ervin is a San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) Employee who worked as a data analyst at a non-school site. The SFPD ICAC unit has not found any evidence that any part of their investigation involves SFUSD students at this time. SFUSD was notified of the arrest.

The charges were later refiled by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
