San Francisco Police Investigating Video Depicting Robbery of Recycler - Update on Second Social Media Video Released 20-021(b)

On February 24th, 2020, the San Francisco Police Department was made aware of a video circulating on social media that depicted the robbery of an Asian man who was collecting recyclables in the Bayview District. The Bayview Station Investigations Team (SIT) immediately initiated an investigation which has since been assigned to the SFPD Special Investigations Division (SID).

An additional video has since surfaced on social media depicting two persons in uniform contacting a man that appears to be the victim. The individuals in uniform are not San Francisco Police officers and have been identified as private security officers. SFPD investigators are aware of the video and are in contact with representatives of the security company that patrols Housing Authority properties in the area.
