On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at approximately 3:20 pm, San Francisco Police officers assigned to the Community Violence Reduction Team (CVRT) arrested a fugitive on parole who had two active felony warrants for his arrest related to robbery and firearms violations. The fugitive was identified as 26-year-old San Francisco male resident, Miller Jernigan. Through the course of the investigation, CVRT officers located Jernigan at 4th and Bryant Streets inside a parked vehicle and attempted to detain him. Jernigan immediately rammed his vehicle into a police vehicle and reversed into another vehicle more than once. Officers on foot saw Jernigan driving the vehicle in a violent manner and approached the vehicle. One of the officers shattered a window to gain access to Jernigan. Jernigan stopped driving, exited the vehicle, and was placed into custody. Jernigan’s violent driving actions caused two officers to be injured. One officer was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries and a second officer was treated and released by medics for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers searched Jernigan’s vehicle and located a stolen loaded handgun. Officers also located stolen property, which was taken from tourists from an earlier auto burglary. Officers seized the stolen property and returned items to the tourists. The investigation also discovered that Jernigan’s vehicle license plate was for a different vehicle, which they seized.

Jernigan was booked into San Francisco County Jail for three counts of assault upon a police officer with a deadly weapon other than with firearm (245(c) PC), a felony charge for convicted person in possession of a firearm (29900(a) PC), convicted felon in possession of firearm (29800(a)(1) PC), carrying loaded firearm in a vehicle (25850(a) PC), carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle (25400(a)(1) PC), prohibited person in possession of ammunition (30305(a) PC), possession of stolen property (496(a) PC), and parole violation (3056 PC).

Jernigan was also booked for the two confirmed arrest warrants (Warrant #: 2103255021, Violation: Robbery, No Bail) (Warrant #: 211102140628, Violation: Weapons Offense, No Bail).
