San Francisco Police Arrest Robbery Series Suspect 20-144

On Saturday, October 24, 2020 at approximately 2:12 PM, San Francisco Police officers from Richmond Station responded to a bank located on the 5400 block of Geary Boulevard regarding a report of an attempted robbery. The adult male suspect approached a bank employee and demanded money while stating that he had a firearm. The suspect fled the bank on foot, but was unsuccessful in stealing money from the bank. Officers arrived on scene and searched for the suspect, but the suspect was not located in the area.

On Saturday, October 31, 2020, at approximately 3:37 PM, Richmond Station officers responded to the 500 block of 3rd Ave. for a report of a commercial robbery with a firearm. An adult male suspect stole cash from a cash register. The suspect brandished a firearm at the victims. The suspect took money and fled on foot. Officers arrived on scene and searched for the suspect, but the suspect was not located in the area.

On Monday, November 2, 2020, at approximately 1:11 PM, Richmond Station officers responded to the 200 block of 19th Ave. for a report of a commercial robbery with a firearm. An adult male suspect demanded money while brandishing a firearm. The victim complied and the suspect stole money and fled. Officers responded to the area and searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him in the area.

On Monday, November 2, 2020, at approximately 5:42 PM, Richmond Station officers responded to the 300 block of 25th Ave. for a report of a commercial robbery with a firearm. An adult male suspect demanded money while brandishing a firearm. The victim complied and the suspect stole money and fled. Officers responded to the area and searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him in the area.

On Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at approximately 11:21 AM, Richmond Station officers responded to a bank located on the 5400 block of Geary Boulevard regarding a report of a robbery. The suspect entered the bank, brandished a handgun at an employee and threatened the employee while demanding money. While the suspect was committing the robbery another employee witnessed the crime that was in progress. The suspect noticed the second employee and demanded money and threatened the second victim. Both employees complied with the demands of the suspect while the suspect stole US Currency and fled on foot. Officers responded to the area and searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him in the area.

On Friday, November 27, 2020 at approximately 11:40 AM, San Francisco Police officers from Northern Station responded to a bank located on the 2000 block of Van Ness Avenue regarding a robbery that just occurred. The suspect entered the bank, brandished a handgun at an employee and threatened the employee while demanding money. While the suspect was robbing the employee another employee observed the suspect next to their coworker. The suspect noticed the second employee and demanded money and threatened the second victim. Both employees complied with the demands of the suspect while the suspect stole US Currency and fled on foot. Officers responded to the area and searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him in the area.

On Monday, November 30, 2020 at approximately 2:42 PM, San Francisco Police officers from Mission Station responded to a bank located on the 3800 block of 24th Street regarding a bank robbery suspect that attempted to enter the bank. An employee of the bank saw the male attempt to open the door to the bank, but the door was locked. When the employee went to open the door the employee noticed that the male matched the description of a bank robbery suspect that had recently robbed other banks. The suspect was not able to enter the bank and fled on foot. Officers arrived on scene and searched for the suspect, but the suspect was not located at that time.

On Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at approximately 9:30 AM, Richmond Station officers responded to a bank located on the 300 block of 6th Ave. for a report of a robbery with a firearm. An employee of the bank approached the adult male as he entered the bank. As the employee greeted the male, the suspect brandished a firearm and demanded money. The employees of the bank complied and gave the suspect money. The suspect fled the scene with the stolen money. Officers searched the area but was unable to locate the suspect. Through the course of the investigation it was discovered that the suspect fled on a bike share bicycle and travelled to Hyde and Market Streets where he parked it and walked down a stairwell to the Civic Center BART Station. Investigators responded to the area and contacted BART Police to assist in locating the suspect. Officers from Southern and Tenderloin Station responded to the area to assist in locating the suspect. BART Police officers located the suspect and a foot pursuit ensued. During the foot pursuit Tenderloin Station officers and investigators with the SFPD Robbery Detail stopped the suspect and took him into custody on the unit block of Grove Street. During the arrest officers seized a replica firearm and a knife, which were in the possession of the suspect.

Investigators and officers gathered evidence from each incident and determined that the suspect was responsible for the aforementioned robberies and attempted robberies. Evidence such as matching suspect descriptions as well as videos and images captured on surveillance cameras are some of the ways that established probable cause to arrest the suspect for the additional robberies.

The suspect is identified as Jason Eliasin, 22-year-old male, Oakland resident. Eliasin was booked for ten counts of robbery (211 PC), two counts of attempted robbery (664/211 PC), seven counts of armed in the commission of a felony (12022(b)(1) PC), four counts of false imprisonment (236 PC), two counts of kidnapping to commit robbery (209(b)(1) PC), four counts of burglary (459 PC), and attempted burglary (664/459 PC).
