San Francisco Police Arrest Alamo Square Hit and Run Suspect 21-143

On Wednesday July 21, 2021, at approximately 5:56 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Northern Station responded to the area of Fulton Avenue and Pierce Streets regarding a hit and run vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Officers located the victim, an 88-year-old female, and began rendering aid until medics arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators were later informed that the victim was expected to survive. Investigators determined that the suspect vehicle, described as a white sedan, struck the pedestrian while she was in the crosswalk, and immediately fled the scene.

Investigators from the SFPD Traffic Collision Investigation Unit developed information that led to the identity of the suspect driver 63-year-old Binh Tran of San Francisco. On Friday July 23, 2021, investigators located Tran and his vehicle on the 1700 block of 43rd Avenue. Tran was taken into custody without incident. Tran’s vehicle was towed and seized for further investigation. Tran was transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked on count of felony hit and run (20001(a) CVC).
