Great Highway Abandoned Child Investigation Update (17-088(a))

On June 5th, 2017, witnesses observed a female throwing items out of her vehicle on the 2800 block of the Great Highway. Shortly thereafter, witnesses observed the female push her 5-year old daughter out of the stationary vehicle causing the child to land on the concrete. The female then drove away with her one-year old son leaving her daughter unattended and uncared for. Paramedics who were in the immediate area witnessed a portion of the incident. The medics treated the child who did not appear to be injured.  See SFPD news release 17-088 for additional details.

San Francisco Police investigators assigned to the Special Victims Unit have booked the child’s mother, 22 year-old San Francisco resident Samantha Patton on one count of felony and one count of misdemeanor child endangerment.

This is remains an active and on-going investigation. Due to pending ID matters, Patton’s booking photo is not being released at this time.
