Officer Involved Shooting in the Marina District

On 10/27/13 at approximately 12:30 pm, police responded to an altercation at Chestnut and Pierce. An adult Latin male suspect was striking a victim on the head with a silver firearm. At that time the suspect fired several rounds at the victim. The suspect fled E/B on Toledo and concealed himself in a bush at Mallorca and Capra. Officers located the suspect and ordered him out several times. The suspect fled N/B on Mallorca and turned the gun on the officers. Several of the officers discharged their duty weapons at the suspect. The suspect was struck and he is in serious condition at SFGH in surgery. Several witnesses on scene corroborated this.

The initial victim, who fled the area in a blue vehicle with a female driver has been located out of county. Investigators are on their way to interview the victim.

This is an on-going investigation. The area is being canvassed for additional witnesses and evidence. Homicide Investigators, Crime Scene Investigators, District Attorney Investigators are on-scene conducting parallel independent investigations.
